Learning Italian? It’s never too late!

In the 1960s, Italian public television aired a program called Non è mai troppo tardiIt’s never too late. The host was a primary school teacher named Alberto Manzi, affectionately known as Maestro Manzi.

Maestro Manzi explained italian grammar and ortography on television in an accesibile way for all the adults who hand’t the chance to study as children. His philosphy is a great source of inspiration for me.

As an Italian language teacher for foreigners, I work exclusively with adults. That’s why I don’t use methods or textbook designed for children or teenagers – they simply don’t fit.

My students are people with families, jobs, responsibilities and bills to pay. Learning Italian is something they choose to do in their spare time, just for themselves. And that makes it even more meaningful. I deeply respect this.

That’s why I focus on concrete, achievable goals – teaching only the grammar you need in the moment, with a communication-focused approach.

I always aim to create a positive environment, because after a long day at work, no one wants to feel frustrated while learning.

The right moment to start learning Italian? Age doesn’t matter!

Sometimes, starting to learn something new can feel indimidating for adults. Many are afraid they won’t have the same time or energy they had back in their school days. And that might be true – but the key is to change the perspective.

If traditional school methods no longer suit you, then it’s the methods that need to change – not you.

My job is to guide you on a learning journey where you feel good about learning Italian. It’s not about the speed – it’s about the satisfaction.

Many of my students are people who love Italy, love to travel, and dream of speaking with locals – but they worry they might be too old to learn.

Well, as Maestro Manzi used to say: It’s never too late. If you have the right motivation, and learning Italian makes you feel good, I’ll take care of the rest.

Right now, my oldest student is over 70. Sometimes they make mistakes, forget words, or don’t have the energy to study every day—but who cares?

What matters is that they can speak Italian each week and when they travel to Italy, they feel more connected. That’s what it’s all about. Non è mai troppo tardi!

You’re not afraid it’s too late anymore, right? Send me a message and let’s get started learning Italian together!
