I know this feeling well. When I was a student of Russian, I spent two years buried in grammar books and history texts. Then I traveled to Moscow. On the flight, I realized something shocking: I could read about Tsar Nicholas II, but I couldn’t ask for directions—or even order a coffee.
That’s when I understood the real gap between knowledge and communication. And that’s exactly what my school, Tanto per parlare, is here to fix.
Speak Italian from Day One
For almost 10 years, I’ve been helping learners move beyond grammar drills and into real conversations. In my classes, speaking isn’t something you “get to later”—it’s the foundation.
With Tanto per parlare, you’ll practice conversation in every lesson. You can choose between:

Private lessons (just you and me);

Shared lessons (with a friend, your partner, a colleague, just someone you know);

Small groups (up to 4 learners, same level).
We meet once a week for 60 or 90 minutes, depending on your skills, goals, and availability.
What makes it work?
The secret is simple: the best way to improve speaking is speaking.

We start every lesson with small talk to warm up and relax;

Then we dive into a topic—based on a text or article I prepare for you (and that I send you in advance);

Materials are personalized for your level. This could be something I’ve written myself or a real article from the internet. Always with vocabulary notes, questions, and activities.
If you need Italian for work or a specific situation, I’ll design tailored materials just for you.
Grammar? Only if you want it.
Some learners just want fluency and vocabulary. Others want grammar support too. You decide. I’ll adapt by including presentations and exercises when needed.
A safe space to talk
Many people worry: “What if I make mistakes?”
In my classes, mistakes are part of the process. I never interrupt while you’re speaking. Instead, we review errors together afterwards, with patience and encouragement.
In groups, you’ll meet people at your level, from different countries. My role becomes that of a “shadow-teacher”—letting you interact freely while guiding from the background.
